    First words for reading by syllables. Start with two-syllable words from identical syllables, then move to words with different syllables.

    Syllables for Kids: Where to Start

    Start reading practice with simple two-letter syllables. A 4-5 year old can master all open syllables in 2-3 months of regular 10-15 minute daily practice.

    • First learn vowels A, O, U, then add consonants M, P, B
    • Pronounce the syllable as one sound: not 'M' and 'A' but 'MA' together
